What an adjustment is for
When a joint in your spine stops moving the way it should, the muscles around it tighten up and the nerves nearby get irritated. Over time other parts of your body start compensating, and that’s often when the pain shows up.
An adjustment is a precise, controlled movement that gets a stuck joint moving again. Dr. Toth uses it with muscle work, exercises and posture changes so the improvement holds, without relying on medication.

Techniques Dr. Toth uses
No two patients get exactly the same adjustment. Depending on what you need and what you’re comfortable with, he may use:
- Activator Methods, a handheld instrument for gentle, targeted adjustments
- ArthroStim, another instrument-assisted option
- Cox flexion-distraction, a slow stretching table technique often used for the low back
- Diversified
- Gonstead
- Thompson
- Palmer Package
Your plan may also include acupuncture or meridian therapy, cold laser therapy, electrical muscle stimulation, manual therapy and rehab exercises.
